How It Works:

Aldara works by stimulating the immune system. Specifically, it activates the body's immune cells to produce interferon and other cytokines, which help fight off the viral infection or abnormal cell growth in the skin.

How to Use:

Aldara is applied directly to the affected area of skin. It is typically used in the following way:

For genital warts: Apply the cream once a day, usually before bedtime, 3 times a week for up to 16 weeks.
For actinic keratosis and basal cell carcinoma: Usually applied 2-5 times per week for several weeks, depending on the doctor's instructions.
For molluscum contagiosum: Typically applied 3 times a week.
The cream is left on the skin for about 6-10 hours, and then washed off.
